NVIDIA Joins UF with a shared vision for accelerating the Open-Source Quantum Stack
Dear UF Community,
We are thrilled to announce a major addition to our network: NVIDIA has officially joined the Unitary Foundation as a Core Member.
This collaboration marks an exciting step forward for our community. NVIDIA has built platforms turning new forms of computing into vast new areas of application and are similarly working to bring quantum computing into the supercomputing environment to allow innovative new computing applications. Their commitment to developing the software and hardware platforms needed for running useful, hybrid quantum algorithms makes them well suited to becoming a UF member.
The synergy between our organizations is rooted in a shared vision for the future of computing. Open-source platforms like CUDA-Q supporting the broadest ecosystem of quantum hardware, as well as NVIDIA AI and accelerated computing are lowering the barriers to entry for quantum developers and researchers everywhere today, and will become the substrate for future quantum accelerators to integrate with supercomputers and solve some of our most important problems.
NVIDIA is not only a leader in quantum technology, they have long been at the forefront of supporting open source ecosystems, from AI to scientific simulation,” said Ben Castanon, UF CEO. “We are honored to have them join us as a Core Member. We are excited to work alongside them to empower and expand quantum’s OS developer community, and ensure that the ecosystem is open, accessible, and high-performing. With the support and leadership of our members, we can significantly accelerate the development of the open-source quantum software stack.
Quantum researchers and developers need open tools and platforms they can build on, and NVIDIA is building accelerated quantum supercomputing to support them,” said Sam Stanwyck, Director of Quantum Product at NVIDIA. “Unitary Foundation has championed that openness for years, and we are joining as a Core Member to advance it together with CUDA-Q and the broader NVIDIA platform.
In addition to welcoming them to the membership program, Unitary Foundation is excited to explore new ways to integrate NVIDIA’s quantum platform with our community-led projects to drive the field forward. Stay tuned for more updates on how this partnership will manifest in our research and software initiatives.
We look forward to a productive partnership and the breakthroughs this will spark across the entire quantum ecosystem. Thank you, NVIDIA, for joining our community!
With gratitude and excitement,
The UF Team
